Great Silver Cleaner
Calgon Water Softener and hot, hot water.
Line a pan with aluminum foil and fill with hot water and add Calgon Water Softener (experiment with amounts of calgon to water).
If you find the powdered Calgon hot tap water works fine, but if you use the liquid Calgon the hotter the water the better.
Put your sterling silver into the bath. It cleans without much if any effort. You may need to use a soft cloth or a toothbrush around designs.

ReplyDeleteGirls this does work - my mother gave me some silver salt cellars that had been in a house fire so they were really black. I tried everything from automotive Mothers cleaner to heaven forbid TarnX and nothing cleaned them. Until the calgon!
