Friday Member Feature ~ Week 2

This week on Vintage Market facebook page RetroTrend featured DaisyToad.

1- Tell us a bit about yourself?

I am a work at home mom with 3 children 12, 3, 1.

2- What do you sell?
I sell a very eclectic range of items in my shop-I think it was once described as neo-Victorian with a funky retro twist and a dash of prom.

3- Favorite decade for vintage?
The 1930s-1940s fascinate me, mainly because of all the hardships and changes the people of those time endures, but it was also a time of simplicity and family. As for style wise-I'm not partial to a decade, I buy what I like.

4- Favorite vintage item you own? Or regret having sold in the past?
I've always regretted selling a small travel alarm clock that was encrusted with rhinestones. I had just gotten married and was desperate for money and sold it at a garage sale. I am constatly on the lookout for that clock.
The favorite thing I won that's a tough one but I'd have to say my Grandpa's bronzed baby shoes that my Grandma gave me for my birthday last year-the same Grandma gave my daughters first birthday, the childrens teapot that her Grandmother gave her on her 100th birthday back when my Grandma was 7.

5-Favorite item you are currently selling? And why?
I've been slacking quite a bit at updating my shop, so a lot of my favorite items aren't yet listed but I'm always partial to dog figurines, tackle or tool boxes and luggage.
I take that back the 2 of my favorite items in my shop are the arless Kewpie doll and the turquoise glass figual decanter. I'm actually decorating with those right now.

6- Best advice for newbies?
Selling Vintage is an ever evolving job. It takes a lot of time, patience, footwork and research, but if it is what you love to do it is all worth it.

7- Favorite web sites? Or blogs?
I love Junk Revolution and Apartment Therapy.

8- Favorite movies? Or TV?
I love the movie Simply Irresistible with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Tank Girl with Lori Petty, Edward Scissorhands with Johnny Depp, TV wise I love Army Wives and anything on the History Channel!

9- Favorite music?
I love Jeremy Camp, Skillet, Switchfoot and the like-I also like Lori Berkner for the kids!

10- Favorite books? Authors?
I don't really take much time to read although I love it. The last book I read was called Work @ Home and would recommend it to anyone transitioning or having done so in the past.

11- Where do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years I will have a daughter in college, a son and daughter in high school. I hope to have a thriving business and I pray God still allows for me to be doing what I love while creating a nurturing enviroment for my family.

12- What else should we know about you/your business?
In October DaisyToad's Vintage is opening a brick and mortar store as well as the online store. A new websit is in the works that will direct you to the many facets of DaisyToad!

  1. I do something very similar to this on my blog and have featured several VM team members. I enjoy learning more about the vintage sellers. Check out my blog on Thursdays for shop features.
