New Feature: Etsy Dress for Less

New Feature: Etsy Dress for Less by Jojo's Retro and Vintage

Its a wonderful feeling when you can score a vintage version of a current fashion.  After all, many current trends all have their roots in a bygone era.  It is well known that designers often visit vintage clothing shops for inspiration which results in vintage feeling looks.  Peruse the current fashion magazines and see what catches your eye. More often than not, you'll remember something similar you saw on Etsy, for a fraction of the price. Spring time brings with it images of chic women in drool worthy resort wear. Instead of spending your hard earned cash on new items with a huge pricetag, consider snagging an "original" from an Etsy seller and spending the rest of that nest egg on the actual vacation!

Lucky Magazine has a section called "What I Want Now" each month where their editors discuss current trends and offer a few suggestions to achieve the look.  I've decided to recreate these types of pages from fashion magazines on a monthly basis with an "Etsy Dress for Less" theme featuring our Etsy Vintage Team sellers.  I hope you will enjoy my findings and that they will inspire you in your own wardrobe!

Today lets look at the theme "French Riviera." The look is cool and classy- an effortless sophistication- a la Grace Kelly.

The suggestions here are a classic sundress in bright colors, natural wedge espardilles, a raffia bag, a retro bikini , hotpant shorts, a sweet blouse and some cute accessories presumably to stash in that oversized vacation bag.  Lets start with the sundress.

We want something bright, summery, with stripes and a strong retro vibe or as they say "something that Grace Kelly would have worn".

I don't think we could have fit this bill any more perfectly. Need I say more?
Next on our list of must-haves are natural material espardrille platform sandals.  "Chic and bohemian at the same time."
These are so groovey and have a matching handbag under another listing!

A casual rafia bag is a useful catch-all when on the go. Their version has a nautical theme, mine also refers back to nature:

I'll take the garden over the high seas any day!

What shall we put in the bag? A retro looking bikini as "high waisted bottoms are super-flattering." This one is sweet and sassy, and would look fab with a cascade of curls in a ponytail:

Maybe you've left the beach and are having lunch al fresco oceanside. In steamy climates, hotpants are fun for the daring and cellulite free!

Or if youre not that confident from the waist down and would rather hide that asset, go for a sweet and sexy top instead:

Also to be found in our bag is an vintage camera to capture those sites you want to remember!

Some retro sunglasses can make any woman feel alluring and mysterious! Go for the designer vintage ones with attitude!

  3. Jojo, Very well done! Wonderful idea to pair the current trends of "new" vintage styles off of the pages of magazines with "authentic" vintage selections from Etsy shops. I'm looking forward to your next installation!
