TUESDAY TIP ~ Week 11

Great Silver Cleaner

Calgon Water Softener and hot, hot water.

Line a pan with aluminum foil and fill with hot water and add Calgon Water Softener (experiment with amounts of calgon to water).

If you find the powdered Calgon hot tap water works fine, but if you use the liquid Calgon the hotter the water the better.

Put your sterling silver into the bath. It cleans without much if any effort. You may need to use a soft cloth or a toothbrush around designs.

VINTAGE SECOND TIME AROUND

RECYCLE REDUCE REPURPOSE REUSE

Submitted by: AntiquesGaloreGal
(origional post on AntiquesGaloreGal blog)

More great ways to repurpose a vintage item.

The idea is to find a new and unusual way to reuse vintage without changing the item itself.

This 6" art nouveau floral frog from KTiques on Etsy isa a perfect example of repurposing an item and still retaining it's original condition. This is Miyata Ware, made in Japan circa 1920-1930's

There are five holes on the top of the frog that can be used to display or store paintbrushes, pens, pencils, whimsical birthday wands, lollipops and chopsticks.
Just use your imagination!

Who could pass up a adorable planter like this one from SoutherLadyVintage.
The perfect accent piece to hold your makeup brushes on your vanity. Another example of how to reuse a beautiful vintage piece without altering it.

TUESDAY TIP ~ Week 8

VMTeam Tuesday Tip

Finding neat vintage bottles, jars and cruets is easy but sometimes cleaning the inside of them can be a real pain.

A sure way to get that dirt and stains out is to place egg shells and warm soapy water in them and shake well.

They will come clean in no time!
