There is a tender place of my heart devoted to period films. I love a good movie that takes me to a different era, one that hits the nail on the head with story, costumes and set design! There are some fabulous period movies up for the 84th Academy Awards on February 26th! Including:

Get a taste of the Red Carpet by having an Oscar Party! Send everyone an invitation that looks like an awards envelope! As guests arrive take photos of them on a  "red carpet" (get a piece of red fabric or purchase a scrap piece of carpet and spray paint it red!) Post the photos on Face Book or a blog after the party! There are some fabulous movie posters, projectors and cameras that could would be fun to integrate into your decor. Cameras look so cool on a bookshelf and movie posters can be a great statement graphically on a wall! 

Whip up some quick and easy vintage finger foods served in funky trays! Lay out fun star related books or images, decorate with posters to set the mood! Create an Oscar game and have everyone mark down their winner predictions and give the person who has the most correct an Oscar related prize!
