Tuesday Tip ~ Week 16

Here is a tip for cleaning vintage gloves.
Mix liquid detergent and warm water in the sink or a large wash basin.
Put the gloves on.
Wash as if you are washing your hands.
Use a nail brush to get spots off of the fingertips.
Remove gloves.
Rinse by filling the gloves with water. Hold the top of the glove closed and squeeze while full of water. This will completely remove all soap.

Tuesday Tip ~ Week 15

Is your veil droopy?
Here is a tip for restoring the "life" to your vintage hat's veil.
Iron the veil between the waxed sides of two pieces of waxed paper.
The slight bit of wax will transfer to the fabric and restore it's crispness.
This also keeps the veils from drooping in damp weather!

Tuesday Tip ~ Week 13

Here is a trick to prevent cloudy canning/fruit jars:
After washing them allow them to dry completely.
Place a large piece of newspaper inside the jar and put the lid on.
Let sit at least over night.
The newspaper will absorb any excess moisture and prevent any clouding.
(when storing jars just leave the newspaper inside it won't hurt and guarantees a cloud free jar)

TUESDAY TIP ~ Week 12

Stubborn Shakers
Have you ever found a great little shaker at a sale but the lid is corroded and fused to the shaker?
Here is an easy way to open those glass, silver or aluminum shakers...
Soak the shaker in hot vinegar (for a really stubborn lid add some salt to the vinegar).
The lid will come off easily and the corrosive material will wash right off.
