Meet the Members of Vintage Market Team- Judy of ThisThatOtherThings

1- Tell us about you-

I like to keep things simple, No fuss no drama, steady as she goes, full speed ahead. Keep it simple stupid works just fine for my way of life. I enjoy re-purposing & creating something useful and unique out of found or broken objects that are reasonably priced. I always like to put a little twist on an old favorite but yet I still enjoy the classic’s & believe some thing’s should remain the same. It seems I think outside the box most of the time, I find it’s not as crowded there. Speaking of crowds I don’t like being a part of one, not that I am afraid of being in a crowd it’s just that I like to go the direction most people aren’t traveling in.I can remember as a child I used to go to yard sales and buy baby cloths for my dolls to wear who would have know that was the beginning to this thrifting adventure. For all of my adult life I have enjoyed going to yard, garage & rummage sales, Auctions, Thrift stores need I go on. Heck I've been know to slam on the breaks on trash day to go through a pile of stuff along the curb. When Traveling my eyes scan the curb sides looking for treasures to bring back to life. My love for vintage came later in life when I noticed that we were becoming a throw away society with no sense of value. Since then I appreciate the Rustic everlasting Charm of vintage. My astrology sign is Taurus but I’m not necessarily like a Bull in a ring with a toreador. I believe I’m more like peace-loving Ferdinand, seeking the gentle meadows filled with flowers, sunshine and natural beauty. It’s only Taurus stubbornness that can make me angry enough to charge at someone who is disturbing my peace or space. Taurus are noted for there Determination, Loyalty and Practicality and I find those are good qualities to have. I am trying to live my life with purpose and authenticity and would encourage everyone to do the same. I bow my head to my Creator God, Angels and Spirit guides each and everyday with thanks and gratitude for what I have been given.

2- What do you sell?

I sell vintage and re-purposed items of all shapes and sizes, hence my shops name This, That & Other Things. That shop was getting crowded so I had the idea a few months ago to open another Etsy shop selling vintage apparel and accessories for Men, Women and Children. That shops name is Back In Time Boutique. It is taking longer than I thought it would to get it up and running but It’s a work in progress. Please come by and take some time to browse around both shops from time to time you just never know what you'll find you didn't even now you wanted.

3- What is your favorite vintage decade?

is the 1890 the beginning of the progressive era. I love the rustic feel of the early settlers and how they were self sufficient at providing for their families needs. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are qualities we have lost over the years. Vintage to me is Recycling, Re-using and Re-purposing items of the past for future generations to enjoy.

4- What is your favorite vintage item?

A Black desktop phone from the 1940s that has been rewired.

5- What is your favorite item you currently have for sale & why?

I love this hand painted Vintage Serving Tray from Thailand that is for sale in my shop. If this doesn’t sell it will be just fine with me. I love this piece because it’s unique, beautiful & very functional.
