Meet the Members of Vintage Market Team- Amy of PhotographicAmy

1- Tell us a bit about you?

I am married to my high school sweetheart who I met in Art class. Our desks were circled around a skeleton that we were drawing and he was across the room and was the only punk rock boy in the class, all cute in his cami pants. I asked him out. We dated almost 4 years and I broke up him in college. We had to grow up. After 10 years apart we ran into each other again at a concert. And not a moment had passed. We have now been back together for 9 years and have a 7 year old boy who is a story teller extraordinar. He goes to the Denver Waldorf (a popular search term on Etsy) where he is getting a nurturing, artistic, creative, well rounded education. We love it there! We also all love to treasure hunt!

2- What do you sell?

I sell any cool vintage thing I come along! What seems to sell best though is vintage shoes, boots and hand bags! I am going to focus more on those things.

3- Favorite decade for vintage?

I love the 80’s since I was a teenager then! Especially punk and new wave music and clothes. I also love the 30’s and 40’s for fashion and movies. The movies from that era are a bit grittier then the 50’s when things get a bit to saccharin for me.

4- Favorite vintage item you own? Or regret having sold in the past?

I have a black alligator purse that my grandma gave to me when I was in high school that was from the 40’s or 50’s. I carried while in school and still use it on dates from time to time! It is a treasured piece for me. I absolutely love old purses!

5- Favorite item you are currently selling? And why?

This is a hard one because I really do love all that is in my shop. But if I had to pick one thing it would be these Fluevog shoes from the 80’s. I wish they were my size! They are so cool! He is the designer responsible for bringing Dr Marten’s to the States! http://www.etsy.com/listing/51858993/vintage-john-fluevog-two-tone-camouflage

6- Best advice for newbies?

When you get frustrated by lack of sales do something to be positive, create a treasury with people who have hearted your shop as a thank you, go look at the VMTeamn Ning site and comment on someone else’s cute item photo. Go look around ETsy and heart other people’s items and comment on other peoples treasuries! Spread the good will!

8- Favorite movies? Or TV?

Movies: Love Fred Astaire! I also love Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, Juno, Much Ado About Nothing

TV – Glee, Arrested Development, Top Gear, Entourage, we have recorded Mad Men to watch since we have heard such rave reviews, but haven't gotten to it yet.

9- Favorite music?

Alternative, Celtic and Punk. Go Go Bordello, Devotchka, Great Big Sea, Neko Case, Vampire Weekend, Brazilian Girls, Edith Piaf, Rufus Wainright, Sigr Rois, She and Him – oh so many!

10- Favorite books? Authors?

I love MFK Fisher. She was a cohort of Julia Child and she is just a hoot! She writes about food, family, traveling, life. A really down to earth observant woman. My favorite genre to read is travel/food memoirs.

11- Where do you see yourself in ten years?

Hmm….My son will be 17 and I will be 49. I hope to be long settled in a house downtown near his school, a lovely bungalow or Tudar with an official dining room and a garden. I hope to have a storage/mailing room dedicated to my full time Etsy shop that will have a new name by then. I hope to have plenty of time and money to travel the world!

12- What else should we know about you/ your business?

I write micro fiction stories with each of the items in my shop!
